Our New Home Sweet Home

I’m very happy to announce that we were able to get the keys to our new flat yesterday! It will be a bit until we actually move in as we plan to do some painting and need to order some basic furniture, like a mattress and bed, but it marks the end of living in limbo, which is great.

Our new place is nice, but not a classic Glasgow tenement with oodles of charm as I had hoped and, heartbreakingly, no area to garden. As we were looking, there was such hot market demand that made a place that ticked off more of our “would love to have” boxes way out of our reach. After viewing over thirty places and getting outbid a number of times, we felt lucky to get this place which has been very carefully maintained by its owners.

It’s located in the West End of Glasgow in a post-WWII set of apartment buildings. Here are some pics of the apartment as outfitted by the previous owners.

Once we’re settled, we’ll look forward to welcoming visitors!!

  1. I love it. Top floor, plenty of light, wood floors, great kitchen, and a laundry line outside. Would that front balcony-like portion be suitable for plants? Congratulations after such a long search!

  2. Wow! It’s beautiful. Very light and airy. I can’t wait to visit. And isn’t there an allotment close by where you could rent a little plot for some veg? Maybe some vertical gardening on the roof? If not you’ll just have to spend 🤷‍♀️everyday in the park.
