I think many have experienced a warping of time and space throughout the pandemic – working at home, change of “normal” social patterns, etc. That’s certainly be true for me. A couple of experiences here lately have really made me wonder where I am.
First, I was taking the bus yesterday to get my pre-flight COVID test and was going through the Glasgow downtown area. I saw what looked to be a set-up for a parade and thought it felt awfully American with its red, white and blue bunting.
I was right – it was supposed to feel like an American parade as I learned that downtown Glasgow has been turned into 1960’s Manhattan as a movie set for the next Indiana Jones flick.
I’ve been hearing a lot from family, friends and coworkers about the heat and humidity on the East Coast these last weeks. Imagine my surprise to see this local headline recently:
I certainly didn’t notice I too was going through a heatwave – Scotland style! The temps have actually been really great lately – highs in the low to high 70’s and no humidity. I understand these “warmer” temps aren’t always the norm in summer here.
Well, I’m heading for the next time/space warp tomorrow as I return to the US after seven months here in Scotland. I’m sure it will be a bit strange meeting people after many months here of little social activity and a pretty tightly locked existence until recently. I’m very excited to connect with as many of you over the next couple of weeks as I can!
Here’s a little timeless musical inspiration for the road!
Timewarp – 1 of my all-time favorite songs! Susan Sarandon was so young. (as were we all). I wish you an easy flight & adjustment to being back in the U.S.of A.
